1983  Founding member of the “Freie Schule Lübeck e.V.” From 1986 onwards, for 14 years, a special decree by the state of Schleswig-Holstein established an independent branch at the Schule Lauerholz in Lübeck-Karlshof. This allowed the Freie Schule Lübeck e.V. to test and implement innovative teaching in a public school. Many of these innovations were transferred into teacher training by teachers, who, enabled by this decree, taught at the school and at the teacher training institute “Lernwerkstatt”, a precursor to the IQSH (Institute for Quality Development in Schools Schleswig-Holstein), housed in the same building as the school for many years.

1979/80 One-year scholarship, BGSU, Ohio, USA: Research on current trends in philosophical aesthetics, art theory, and art events in the USA, as well as many study trips to many metropolises in the USA 

1976-1982  Interdisciplinary studies: with a focus on philosophy (Prof. Dr. Heinz Paetzold), pedagogy (Prof. Dr. Micha Brumlik), art history (Prof. Dr. Horst Bredekamp), composition (Prof. György Ligeti), sinology (Prof. Dr. Mau-Tsai Liu), as well as sociology and psychology at Universität Hamburg.
